Full Details
Thornbrook is a wonderful detached Edwardian house occupying a superb position approximately 350 metres from the beach at Thurlestone Sands in the South Hams in Devon. It is entirely surrounded by stunning countryside and beautiful Devon hills, the house offers fantastic views particularly over the South Huish nature reserve with its highland cattle, horses, swans, ducks and birds with the coastline and the sea beyond. A short level walk from the beach itself the property occupies circa. one third of an acre on a quiet country lane which offers privacy and seclusion in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
This location is almost completely enclosed by National Trust land and is truly part of the Devon landscape. Thurlestone Sands is one of a number of beautiful South Hams beaches within easy reach, located between Thurlestone, which is roughly 1.3 miles to the North and the West and Hope Cove which is 1 mile to the South, Thornbrook is very close to both sought after villages which offer friendly local communities and many amenities including the 18 hole golf course.
The house is arranged over three floors, is well presented and in excellent condition throughout. A central hallway leads to a large triple aspect drawing room running front to back with feature fireplace and woodburner and benefitting from french doors leading to a raised wooden deck facing away, across the nature reserve to the sea. To the other side of the entrance hall is an open-plan dining room and kitchen with space for a large dining table with up to ten chairs. The kitchen features an array of wall and floor units, including a corner carousel and pull-out larder, with rangemaster oven, overhead extractor and integrated fridge and free standing dishwasher. From the kitchen is a good size and useful utility room, with further units and storage and side access to the house, plus a double bedroom/study with a Jack and Jill shower room with underfloor heating, WC and hand basin. There is also a separate downstairs cloakroom.
The first floor contains the triple aspect main bedroom with private dressing room and compact en-suite shower room with WC. There is also a charming second double room with en-suite bathroom and a two basin family bathroom with shower over the bath with separate WC.
The top floor comprises two further bedrooms benefitting from dorma windows, front and back, overlooking the coastline with a cloakroom in-between.
Next to the main residence is a substantial outbuilding arranged over two floors which comprises a workshop and a games room with electricity and power and an additional upper level loft room. Behind the workshop and games room is a large lean-to providing storage space suitable for a small boat and other outdoor furniture and equipment, with a outdoor shower area for dogs and sandy feet. This outbuilding offers excellent potential for redevelopment (STPP).
