One of the most notable features of Swardeston is its beautiful Church, St. Mary`s. The Church dates back to the 14th Century and is a Grade I listed building. It is known for its stunning stained glass windows and impressive tower, which stands at over 100 feet tall. The Church is still in use today and is a popular destination for visitors to the village. Edith Cavell was born in Swardeston in 1865 and was the daughter of the Rev Frederick Cavell. The head of a training school for nurses in Brussels, she helped soldiers of all nationalities during the First World War under the Red Cross. Swardeston is also home to a number of local events and festivals throughout the year. One of the most popular is the Swardeston Cricket Festival, which takes place every August. The festival attracts teams from all over the country and is a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to enjoy a day out in the sunshine. Swardeston cricket club is highly regarded and dates back to over 160 years.
