We moved into 162 Elgar Road nearly 3 years ago and we have thoroughly loved every minute in our little oasis. A surprising addition has been the fantastic neighbours we have, helping each other, BBQs, and a real community spirit. When we moved into the house, it was tired and unloved as it had been rented out for the past few years. We worked through house one room at a time, remodelling, painting, plastering, and adding our own unique style to every room to bring it back to life. We have also remodelled the kitchen, making it the focus of our home. One vision we had was to seamlessly connect the garden with the interior as we both love spending time outdoors and entertaining. Our goal was to create an extension of the home within the garden, a space that feels like an additional room where we could relax and enjoy nature, especially when the sun is out and the weather is good, often in the company of our feathered friends and other wildlife. We are moving due to family reasons, and if we could, we would dig up the house and garden and take it with us. We bought a house, and we are leaving a home. We hope that whoever is lucky enough to buy our `bubble` (as we call it) will be as happy as we have been.
Alex the Agents Thoughts -
As you step into this stylishly designed home, it`s clear that the current owners have invested both time and care into transforming it into a welcoming space full of character. The charm of the property is immediately evident in features like the character fireplaces and the elegant bay window in the front dining room. Every detail, from the thoughtful improvements to the stairs to the overall upkeep, reflects the dedication poured into this home.
One of the standout features is the beautifully remodelled kitchen. The addition of double doors at the back creates a seamless flow onto the composite decking, offering a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee while overlooking the garden. This space effortlessly extends the indoors out, providing a serene riverside retreat where you can unwind, entertain, and take in the tranquil views from the jetty, which is ideal for gatherings or simply enjoying a peaceful moment by the water.
Upstairs, the large bathroom offers a superb view of the river, making it an incredibly relaxing space to unwind. The front double bedroom is filled with natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere, while the central room offers a cosy space that can comfortably fit a small double bed. There`s also the exciting potential for a loft extension (STP), allowing for future growth if required.
