Frederick Street consists predominantly of Victorian and Edwardian houses and 32 is a typical example of the former that has retained some charming feature including the wood panel doors and its original fireplaces. The datestone is visible on the neighbouring property but sadly the writing has eroded over time and now tantalisingly all that can be seen is the word ?Brook? revealing the end of the old name of the terrace.
A few of these properties were designed with an arch and walkway beneath giving access to the rear of the houses and this house is such an example of that design meaning that the flying freehold over the walkway provides larger than usual bedrooms upstairs with an extra few feet of floor space that the majority of others do not possess.
There is an attractive front door with patterned glass but in truth this is not used as the primary entrance as it is more practical to use the back door which then maximises the usable area in the sitting room. The back door leads into the kitchen which has a terracotta floor and painted units with dark varnished worktops that incorporate a butlers sink. Spaces are available for a fridge, washing machine (plumbing in situ), and a cooker, and above the latter is a brushed chrome extractor hood. Complimentary stone style tiling adorns the walls and in between the kitchen and bathroom is a utility area which could accommodate a large tall standing fridge/freezer or with the addition of plumbing a washing machine, enabling the kitchen to be equipped with a dishwasher.
The bathrooms floor and walls are fully tiled and there is a white suite of wc, wash basin and a panelled bath. There are chrome fittings and an overhead rainfall shower over the bath.
The sitting and dining room are open plan and although by no means small do offer a real feeling of being cosy with the superb working Victorian cast iron fireplace and its wood surround at the centre of the sitting room wall. The staircase rises from the side of the dining area and on the landing is loft access. It should be noted that a number of similar properties in the street have converted their lofts into extra rooms and there is no reason why one could not do the same here. Currently there is a loft ladder, power and light, and it is partially boarded.
Of the three bedrooms the main bedroom is really well proportioned with floorboards and again the Victorian cast iron fireplace. Bedroom two is a nice double and bedroom three a decent single.
OUTSIDE
The frontage is block paved for parking and with care you can squeeze two vehicles onto the drive.
At the rear is hardstanding and a log store and a path down the middle of the lawn to a slate chipped patio and garden shed. The lawn is flanked by flower beds.
