Sticklepath is a large village located about 3.5 miles east of Okehampton, within the District of West Devon. Lying in the valley of the River Taw, close to a crossing point, it is on the major route from Exeter to Okehampton and on to Launceston. The name is said to be derived from the old 'stickle' or steep path that the route followed until improvement around 1829. Amenities within the village are all within a short walk from the property and comprise of the well renowned 'Taw River Inn' village store / tea room and the National Trust attraction in the 'Finch Foundry'. There is Primary school education in the neighbouring village of South Zeal and Secondary education facilities in Okehampton which is on the bus route from the village. From the village there is direct access to Dartmoor National Park.
