6 Fenwick Park is an immaculately presented and spacious five/six-bedroom detached family home situated in a popular residential area of the large Borders town of Hawick. Only a short walk to the town centre or the open hills, it is conveniently placed for everything.
Formerly a manse, but more recently run as a Bed & Breakfast, this family home dates from 1880 and has been sympathetically renovated by the current owners combining the old with the new which includes oak flooring throughout the reception rooms on the ground floor and the bedrooms on the first floor, which is a particular feature.
With extensive garden ground surrounding the house, which extends to around 0.40 acres the garden is pre-dominantly self-maintaining with a large number of planted trees. There are also period features in abundance which include original internal doors and working shutters, high skirtings, ornate cornicing, and fabulous leaded glasswork. Internally, the versatile accommodation over three levels has five main bedrooms, two shower rooms, a study/bedroom six, a sitting room, a family room, a dining room, a breakfasting kitchen, a sun room, a utility room, and a downstairs wc. Bright and spacious with flexible living throughout the property also benefits from double glazing and gas central heating.
Externally, there is a sweeping tarmac drive up and round the back of the property to plentiful parking and a large detached timber garage at the side.
With attractive garden ground to the front, with hedging and newly planted trees, there are terraced beds to the rear, with lawn areas and a clever network of paths surrounded by a variety of well-stocked borders, shrubs, and small trees which lead to the top of the garden and a summer house. There are also patio areas, one beside the pond, which provide a lovely space to enjoy the sun.
Only eighteen miles from the Borders Railway, which runs to Edinburgh, it is conveniently located for commuting, and sits in a strong primary and secondary school catchment.

Location:
6 Fenwick Park is located in a popular residential area of Hawick, the largest of the Border towns, with a population of over 14,000 that lies on the banks of the River Teviot. The town is famous for its common riding, rugby and fine cashmere companies such as Hawick Cashmere, Johnstons of Elgin, Lyle & Scott, and Pringle of Scotland. The town also provides an extensive choice of amenities ranging from a leisure centre, a variety of specialist independent shops including small supermarkets, and a selection of restaurants and hotels, mostly situated around the High Street area of town.
The annual Common Riding, which is one of the oldest Border festivals combines the annual riding of the boundaries of the towns common land with the commemoration of a victory over an English raiding party in 1514. Hawick is also well known for its rugby at Mansfield Park, home of Hawick Rugby Football Club, plus its events in the town which include the Summer Festival and the Hawick Reivers Festival.
Local attractions include the Borders Textile Towerhouse, the Three Stills Distillery, and Wilton Lodge Park, offering fabulous riverside and tree-lined walks, as well as a walled garden. The Hawick Museum and Scott Gallery also detail the towns history and provide a venue for visiting exhibitions. There are also a variety of outdoor pursuits across the region that include fishing on the River Teviot and River Tweed, fieldsports, horse riding, golf with a course in Hawick, lawn bowling, mountain biking, and a selection of nearby walks including the Southern Upland Way, St. Cuthberts Way and The Borders Abbeys Way.
There is also a good choice of primary schools available with secondary schooling at Hawick High School.
The A7 which runs through Hawick provides excellent links to Edinburgh or the north of England. The area is also served by the Borders Railway which runs from Tweedbank to Edinburgh, with the station lying approximately eighteen miles away. There is also a busy bus service with links to Carlisle, as well as Edinburgh and the other Border towns.
