This grand and enchanting Gothic home began life I believe as a popular hotel for the wealthy visiting Great Malvern in the mid 1800's, with its magical water cure properties. Merino wool spinner Robert Hollins and his wife, Edith Blanche Hollins lived here until she died in 1951. She was awarded the OBE for her work efforts on behalf of the Red Cross during the Great War. * Video is available on request

In the 1950's the house was bought and divided into two homes with Glendaruel retaining the original staircase, Fleur de Lys window carvings, tallest of ceilings and half an acre of garden. The intricate stone carved mounts on the outside of the house are captivating. They were true craftsmen and no expense was spared to create magnificent buildings of this stature.

Since the 1950's it has had just two owners with the current owners being the third and they have enjoyed stewardship of this house for the last 14 years having moved back to the UK from Singapore.

When asked why the owners fell in love with this house, they explained that they were instantly drawn to the period features, grandness, exceptional windows, the wonderful far reaching views and the long terrace that runs the length of the house. The windows are charming with floral detail; internally acrylic 'double' glazing has been added to keep the house warm and toasty.

Over time the owners have spent money on the property installing kitchen granite work tops, a modern utility area and garage made of glass and wood which blends in beautifully. They landscaped the garden including building steps to improve access, added a BBQ area, and installed light/electricity to the wooden sheds. The garden is private, not overlooked plus dog and child proof.
(There aren't any tall trees to attend to which I know you will be relieved to hear)

Glendaruel is set in a highly prized location, provides flat parking for eight cars, with the theatre, Priory Park and Malvern College just five minutes walk away. It is a fine looking home with intrigue and unique detailing that you just don't find often these days.

GROUND FLOOR
Excellent 26' long grand kitchen with doors leading out to the flagstone terrace, 19' drawing room, large study, recently built utility room, cloakroom and garage. Head up the sweeping staircase where there is a beautiful ornate mullioned window filling the hallway and entrance hall with sunlight.

FIRST FLOOR
The bedrooms are grand and charming with the main bedroom having a wall of fitted wardrobes and a large updated ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Bedroom 2 is beautiful and feminine with a delightful balcony and the most wonderful far-reaching views across the Severn valley. Next to this is a stylish large family shower room with good storage for towels and bed linen. Bedroom 3 is a superb size currently used as a home office/study.

LOWER GOUND FLOOR
The full-size snooker table on the lower ground floor doubles as a table-tennis table to keep children and grand children off their iPhones! (It will stay but can be removed if preferred). The lower ground floor is currently used to practice music in but can be used as additional bedrooms. There is a handy kitchen/utility room, where teenagers can practice their culinary skills.

TOP FLOOR
Ideal teenage space with two bedrooms, linear kitchen, bathroom, and roof access with sensational views toward the Malvern Hills.

We think this is a gorgeous family home for those that want life at your fingertips....theatre to visit, call into Waitrose daily for fresh food, coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy.

LOCATION

/// what3words: relax.duck.forgot

Malvern is a safe and beautiful town with an abundance of quintessentially British charm, steeped in culture. A designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the spectacular Malvern Hills providing a glorious back drop, you will find this so much more than just a place to put down roots.

It is an eclectic town, very much into the arts and attracts creative people from all over the world who thankfully choose to settle and live in this spectacular, idyllic location.

Here you will find independent boutiques, outstanding restaurants, pubs, cafes, a range of supermarkets including Waitrose and the renowned Malvern Theatre. Priory Park and Malvern College are less than 5 minutes walk away from the house. A favourite of mine is Faun - excellent for brunch and the best cinnamon buns made daily but so many cafes are good so go ahead and explore.

The Malvern Theatre is a real pull, located in the Winter Gardens complex in the town centre of Great Malvern and has been a provincial centre for the arts since 1885. It is a model of artistic and architectural excellence and boasts a diverse programme and great selection of events throughout the year.

For those who love walking and cycling the magnificent Malvern Hills are literally on your doorstep and I defy anyone not to feel uplifted after walking on the hills with your dog or family. Always breathtaking and invigorating!

Some of the finest independent, primary and secondary schools are located in Malvern including Malvern College, Malvern St. James, The Elms, The Downs, Wyche Primary and The Chase High School nearby.

The ever popular Three Counties Showground offers a variety of events throughout the year including festivals, food, gardening, agricultural, entertainment and so much more..

Malvern has excellent links by road and rail: Great Malvern and Malvern Link train stations are only a few minutes away with direct links to Worcester (10 minutes), Birmingham (1 hour) and London Paddington (2 hours 15 mins) with Junction 7 of the M5 a short drive away. Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Broadway, Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham all readily accessible.
