LOCATION Curtisden Green is an enchanting rural hamlet located on the outskirts of the much sought after and historic village of Goudhurst, which is arguably one of Kent's highest and most picturesque Wealden villages. Goudhurst is dominated by the old Norman church overlooking the pretty High Street. The village has a fine selection of period Kent-peg tile and white weather-boarded properties that lead down the hill to the duck pond. There are a wide variety of friendly shops with good old-fashioned service including: a busy newsagent/general store with a Post Office, a pharmacy, a bakery with a cafe, an antique shop, a European designer boutique and two hairdressers. The Vintage Room and café have recently opened as have the book shop and the tea and coffee emporium. There are four welcoming country pubs in Goudhurst with their own separate restaurants. In the centre of the village Burgess Stores is open seven days a week from early till late. One can purchase an excellent selection of fresh local produce, artisan bread and a large off licence too. The village has a doctors' surgery, a veterinary surgery and a village hall. Goudhurst also has two petrol stations, both offering a much appreciated personal vehicle filling service plus MOT and general service/paint shop facilities, an old Rolls Royce and other vintage cars showroom and our welcoming estate agents office. Risebridge Farm is a much praised private, members only health club and a beauty shop. Bedgebury Forest offers many leisure activities such as cycling and a Go-Ape adventure course. Wonderful open-air concerts are held in Bedgebury Forest from pop to classical.
For a more comprehensive range of shopping facilities the towns of Cranbrook and Royal Tunbridge Wells are within easy driving distance. For the commuter there are mainline rail services from the nearby towns/villages of Paddock Wood, Marden and Staplehurst (London Bridge approx. 50-55 minutes). The village also has its own excellent primary school plus a brilliant pre-school and is within the much-favoured CRANBROOK SCHOOL CATCHMENT AREA. Curtisden Green is also home to the excellent Bethany School.
