Architecture & Interior
Standing on a quiet corner of Mundania Road, Chapel Court is an impressive sight. Rich, red renovated brickwork and large stone mullioned windows hint at setting the standard for what's to come.
Crossing the threshold into this triplex chapel conversion is a hugely welcoming experience. The current owners' decorative flair and efforts have merged warm tactile materials and natural decorative hues that yields a calm serenity from every room in the apartment.
Shared with just one other apartment, the ground floor communal entrance is accessed through impressive double doors where a sharp turn to the left finds you standing in the under floor heated lobby at the base of the stairwell.
Heading up the first flight delivers you to an oversized landing clad with engineered oak floor. Sunshine sweeps through all three of the double bedrooms accessed from here along with the generously sized family bathroom.
Light pours through the double glazed stone framed windows of the principal bedroom, both in here and its adjoining en-suite. In the opposite corner of the room, a recessed bank of wardrobes provide a neat dressing room.
As with the principal bedroom, warmth and light fill the second two double bedrooms, both of which enjoy the calming neutral decor..
Ascend a second flight of stairs to arguably the main event of the whole apartment, a vast, vaulted, open plan reception with soaring ceiling heights following the apex of the roof with the original, whitewashed roof struts hinting to its historic past.
Gorgeous oversize mullion windows dominate the forward facing wall, filling the whole room with sunlight. Additional dormers with intricately framed, efficient windows sit on both sides of the roof line.
Meticulous zoning of this level ensures every corner serves a purpose. Glossy white cabinetry of the kitchen area is married with solid, black granite countertop, all of which house high end appliances, except the washer dryer which is discretely housed in a cupboard in the dedicated dining corner of the room. Cross the room to two comfy corners envisioned for entertaining. Engineered oak covers the entire floor pairing beautifully with the continued theme of the laid back design.
From the reception, an ornate spiral staircase carries you up one more level to the final floor of this unique home, a spacious snug hosting various uses with a large fourth bedroom, spare room, office or cosy winter reception being among the options. Painted framework of the original structure is still proudly displayed with natural light filtering through a roof top Velux window.
In The neighbourhood
Mundania Road sits at the centre of the borders of East Dulwich, Forest Hill and Peckham Rye, it's almost the beating heart of South London, a picturesque street offering a relaxed contrast from the city and central London which isn't that far away.
Its proximity to the mix of independent shops, cozy cafes, and inviting pubs is hard to match. Less than 10 mins on foot will deliver you to Lordship Lane and its thriving retail scene, Peckham Rye & Honor Oak. At the opposite end of that spectrum, The green open spaces of The Rye and Hornimans Gardens are fab places to drift over to for a leisurely stroll.
Transport & Connections
Plenty of buses roll in through Forest Hill Road a few moments away on foot. Honor Oak station is around 12 mins walk. From here, London Overground runs regular services deeper into East and North London, taking in stops at Shadwell (connecting with the DLR) and Whitechapel (connecting with the Elizabeth Line), via Canada Water.
A little further, both national rail? & Thameslink services at Peckham Rye and Forest Hill stations head central to London Bridge and Victoria.
