Portsewett -
Portskewett (Welsh; Porth-is-Coed) meaning 'the harbour below the wood' is a small village in Monmouthshire, 4 miles from Chepstow and 1 mile from Caldicot. It has easy access by Motorway and Rail to both Cardiff and Bristol and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, leading to the Severn Estuary. The area has a fascinating history and was known as one of the three main ports in Wales during the 10th century. There is a small village shop, a junior school, doctor's surgery, pharmacy, church, and a pub close to the village centre along with many local walks and parks in the area. Most notably the remains of an old hunting lodge said to have been built by King Harold II in 1064 and destroyed during a battle in 1065 by Caradog ap Gruffydd
