Blandford Forum, commonly known as Blandford, is a market town located in the heart of Dorset on the banks of the River Stour, surrounded by rolling hills. The town?s focal point is its Market Place which is fringed by outstanding Georgian architecture. There are many independent shops and three supermarkets. There are also museums, attractions and facilities to suit all interests and the dramatic Jurassic Coast and beaches are within easy reach. Blandford lies at the junction of the A350 and A354 main roads but is skirted by an eastern bypass. The main road running through the town is the B3082, connecting Blandford Forum to Wimborne Minster. Blandford Forum is around 33 miles (53 km) southwest of junction 1 of the M27 motorway at Cadnam. Buses run from the town to locations including Poole, Bournemouth, Salisbury and Shaftesbury.

Blandford Forum has two primary schools: Archbishop Wake and Milldown.
'The Blandford School' is the main secondary school for 11 year olds which also has a sixth form, and its feeder schools are Blandford St Mary, Downlands, Dunbury and Durweston, Pimperne, and Spetisbury Primary Schools. A number of independent schools are also located near Blandford, such as Bryanston School, Canford School, Clayesmore School, Hanford School, Knighton House School and Milton Abbey School.

Blandford also has a community hospital, recreation grounds and a leisure centre with pool.
