One of its greatest draws is the peaceful setting-overlooking lush greenery, it feels almost rural, despite being moments from Peckham Rye Park, Nunhead Village, and excellent cafes. The street is quiet and friendly, and the building, set back from the road, offers a real sense of privacy.
The flat is well-proportioned, with high ceilings and smart storage solutions. We updated the bedroom floor with new floorboards, replaced a tired carpet, and built a small laundry greenhouse on the decking. The living space is ideal for entertaining, while the "snug room" has served as a home office and reading nook.
A standout feature has been the private (though not officially designated as such) garden-an invaluable retreat, perfect for morning coffee or summer BBQs. During lockdown, it became a sanctuary.
Peckham is a vibrant area, with fantastic bars, restaurants, and shops. Forza Wine offers rooftop views, while The Montpelier and Copeland Social are great for drinks. Excellent dining options include Ganapati, The Begging Bowl, and Mr. Bao. Nunhead and East Dulwich provide yoga studios, cafés, and a highly regarded Georgian restaurant.
Transport links are excellent. The 343 bus at the end of the road reaches Elephant & Castle in 10 minutes, continuing to Farringdon and King's Cross. Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham Overground stations are within a 15-minute walk, with direct trains to Victoria, Blackfriars, and Clapham Junction. On-street parking is free, and we've considered requesting a communal bike shed.
After almost four years, Alessia is relocating to be closer to family, but we will truly miss this home. Every inch of space is well-utilised, making it feel much larger than expected.
