This Victorian townhouse has been sensitively renovated to provide everything needed for 21st century living. However, it has retained or replaced original features including bay and arched sash windows, high coved ceilings, dado and picture rails, high skirtings, ceiling roses, Victorian style radiators, panelled doors, fireplaces and a stained glass front door. There is a lower ground floor annexe apartment with a separate entrance, garage, carport, workshop and off road parking accessed via a private lane, adjacent to the property.

The drawing room has reclaimed Victorian floorboards, a bay window and a marble surround cast iron fireplace with a gas fire. The elegant dining/music room has a bay with arched windows and an original cast iron Victorian fireplace flanked by CD shelving, while the contemporary kitchen includes Karndean flooring with underfloor heating, a larder, access to the breakfast room and units housing various appliances.

The original staircase leads to a shower room and the galleried landing with a laundry cupboard, a family bathroom and two double bedrooms. One has reclaimed Victorian flooring, fitted cupboards, a walk in cupboard and a bay window while the other features a cupboard and fitted shelving. The second floor has a storage cupboard and two bedrooms. One has a fitted cupboard and a cast iron fireplace and the other is designed as an office with built in cupboards and bookcases.

A rear lobby provides access to the large garden with its south facing terrace bordered by shrub and rose beds and a pathway flanked by a lawn leading to a delightful summerhouse and a pedestrian gate to the garage complex.

The annexe entrance opens into a hallway with a boiler room, storage facilities and an understairs laundry cupboard. There is a bathroom, a double bedroom, a single bedroom with a built in cupboard, a fitted kitchen and a delightful living room with a cast iron fireplace and a glazed door to the rear garden.

What the Owner says:

When we purchased the property it required total renovation but we loved the position, the large garden and the garage complex. So it was a labour of love to renovate it. The house has a new roof, plumbing and electrics as well as new kitchens and bathrooms. The windows include acoustic glazing on the lower ground and ground floors and double glazing on the upper floors.
The location is ideal with the seafront close by and the train station, with the high speed train that can whisk you to London in under an hour and 20 minutes, is not far away and it only a short drive to Dover and Folkestone.
Walmer has independent shops, bars and restaurants, the seafront, various sports clubs, the Downs Sailing Clubs and two local golf club. The Tides swimming pool complex is not far away and Deal is very close with its quaint streets, period properties, restaurants, independent shops, a Saturday market and its historic pier.
There is the Kingsdown and Walmer and the Royal Cinque Ports golf clubs for golfing enthusiasts and if you want to go slightly further afield there is also the championship courses at Royal St George's as well as Princes in Sandwich.
As far as education is concerned there are very good primary schools in the area, including Warden House, rated Outstanding by Ofsted and Goodwin Academy secondary school. A wide variety of excellent grammar and private schools are also available in the nearby towns.
