DESCRIPTION

A rather unique and rare opportunity to purchase this former Methodist Chapel that can be found within the village of Drift.

Alleged to be originally built as a Bible Christian Chapel, there are various noted dates of interest up to 1976. One entry of interest is dated 1876 – being “The anniversary of Drift Bible Christian Sunday School was celebrated on Good Friday. Trewellard Brass Band was in attendance and played admirably. Upwards of 70 children and 130 adults partook the tea and cake provided” (2 May 1876 – The Cornish Telegraph)

Sadly, due to dwindling numbers the chapel is now closed but hopefully it will be given a new lease of life by its new owners. A positive pre-application from Cornwall County Council (PA25/00489/PREAPP) giving advice on its conversion to a single dwelling is available upon request for any interested party.

The internal accommodation briefly comprises of an entrance vestibule with attractive flag stone flooring with doors that lead both into the worship hall and meeting room which was probably once the Sunday School.

LOCATION

The property is located some two miles west of the market town of Penzance with the popular surfing village of Sennen, renowned for its sandy beaches, some six miles further along the A30. Drift Reservoir is but a short distance away and is an idyllic location for enjoying some peace and quiet whilst rambling countryside walks, especially to Trewidden Gardens, can be enjoyed.
