"We've been living in our flat for 7 years and we've thoroughly enjoyed our time here. This flat was the perfect choice for us as first time buyers. It's been an ideal space for both of us as the rooms have character and the windows all get direct sunlight during the day. We appreciate the fact we have a second bedroom with a Juliet balcony as it allows us to have guests stay comfortably at weekends. It was also useful during the lockdowns as it meant we were able to have our separate office spaces!
The three things we think are especially great about this flat and its location are the great transport links, green spaces, and the places to go out nearby. Sandrock Road itself is a generally a quiet road with friendly and helpful neighbours. It's a very practical place to live with several supermarkets and shops in Lewisham town centre within a 5-10 minute walk.
In terms of transport links we are spoilt, one of us works in Canary Wharf and it takes only half an hour door-to-door to get to the office. In addition, there are also frequent trains to London Bridge and Cannon Street from St John's station (5 minute walk), and Charing Cross and Victoria from Lewisham Station (10 minute walk). We think the transport connections are excellent.
The downstairs flat allows us to use their garden, so we regularly have BBQs in the summer and enjoy gardening throughout the year.
The peacefulness of the garden often makes us forget that we're in Zone 2 London and we considered ourselves very lucky to have access to it during the lockdown. Aside from the garden, we enjoy going for runs around nearby Hilly Fields, but we also like walking to Greenwich and Blackheath at the weekends. Hilly Fields has a great community vibe with a Parkrun held every Saturday and events such as a Fayre and open-air cinema organised during the summer.
There are lots of good restaurants and pubs nearby in Lewisham, Brockley, New Cross, and Blackheath. We especially recommend the newly refurbished Talbot pub on Tyrwhitt Road which is just around the corner. It also takes no time at all to get the train to London Bridge from St John's station where we quite often meet friends at Borough Market.
