Enviably located in this popular street, is this glorious, sensitively restored and extended Victorian house, spaciously arranged over three floors. Offering a host of grand classic features with much thought given to space and light. Composed of an inviting reception hall, through lounge with dual aspect windows, spacious family bathroom. The lower ground level comprises of a double bedroom, shower room with separate kitchen/utility room with the main extended kitchen dining space at the rear of the property leading to a tranquil and mature, secluded garden. The first floor boasts two light filled bedrooms and access to the loft currently ideal for storage. Located within the catchment area for a number of Primary and secondary schools and close to Chatsworth Road with its independent shops and restaurants. Homerton Overground Station can be found near by as well as the open green spaces pf the Marshes and Millfields Park.
"What the owners say"
We bought this house in 1998 which at the time was lived in by the nephew of the original builder (circa 1876). The house was fully refurbished at this point, which involved knocking through the workshops of the owner, a cobbler, to create the current kitchen/diner extension which is one of our favourite areas with a conservatory feeling of being immersed in the garden itself. A new roof and bathroom were also created at this time. The garden is a pleasant area to sit out at any time of the year. We converted the back basement room to a kitchen/wc shower room in 2014 and together these have since been used as a living space separate from (although still connected to) the rest of the house which we often rented out, which was easily done as it has a separate front door, hallway and its own small front and back garden/patio areas.
We love the house, it has been a very cosy family home with its open fires and ample space, in an area which has changed a lot since we moved in. We have a lovely friendly local community on the street and our neighbours have held a number of street parties over the years.
On The Doorstep
Hackney is a great area to live with a vibrant multicultural community and atmosphere and a lot to offer with plenty of facilities, venues, places to eat, artists and galleries.
There is a lovely small Cinema called the Castle, many independent shops and restaurants and also a busy Sunday Market on Chatsworth Road. There are also open green spaces on the doorstep too; Millfields, Hackney Marshes and the Olympic Park and we are only a five minutes’ walk from the River Lea and canal which run through them. Our family use these spaces for walking, jogging, playing football and swimming in the two local Olympic size swimming pools, inside at the Olympic Park itself and the outdoor heated London Fields Lido.
